For the last eight weeks our sister non-profit Fundación La Pregunta has been bringing together a group of mothers and daughters from Washington Heights for their pilot program: Mami&Me Bilingual Creative Nutrition and Exercise Program. While the girls exercise their bodies and minds in new ways with capoeira, yoga, and mask-making, the moms discuss a different nutrition topic each week, and at the end of each session everyone shares a healthy meal prepared with tasty, locally-available ingredients.

This Saturday marks the end of the first Mami&Me program. Join us to celebrate with a performance, art exhibit, healthy snack samples and community reception.

playing the classics arrangements of choro mixed with jazz.

On a cold and rainy night, a locksmith receives an anonymous call from
a desperate young man who locked himself out of his apartment.
Reluctantly, the locksmith helps him, and by doing so discovers that
the desperate young man is the key to help him unlock a painful mystery
from his former life.
Brooklyn-based director and salsa lover Dana Verde screens her short film Lock and Key. (Watch the trailer)

A new exhibit graces La Pregunta’s walls this week – Danny Freeman’s The Underground Railroad

Danny created The Underground Railroad along with NYC public school students to bring forth a
historical consciousness of black freedom fighters that are not normally spoken
about in the canon of American education systems. The use of subway cars are a
reference 1980’s graffiti tags that are in danger of becoming completely
removed from urban New York culture.
